Job Summary
Work Shift
1 - First ShiftThe Business Analyst II acts as an intermediary between the business community and the technical community working with IT project teams and business clients to collect, clarify, and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design (using appropriate tools and models) from which applications and solutions are developed. This position is an active thought partner and application visionary who shapes the technology demand among the business community.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Demonstrate the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors.
2. Partner with business and technology partners to elicit, analyze, translate, and document business requirements into technical requirements.
3. Analyze, document, and test program development, logic, process flows, and specifications.
4. Work with business and IT leaders to create and maintain an operating plan to achieve the strategic vision and operating platform that defines the people, processes, tools, and technology (alignment to center of excellence).
5. Promote user adoption and user experience through training, consultation, and support of existing functionality.
6. Partner with business partners to conduct user acceptance testing.
7. Document user manuals to describe application installation and operating procedures.
8. Coordinate the project resources to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Education and/or Experience
- 4-year college degree in Business, Finance, or Computer Science with a minimum of 3 years' experience with enterprise, client and web-based application software as an analyst; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Proven in-depth knowledge of at least one functional area, associated application stack(s) and data; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Able to understand business functionality and translate it into application requirements.
- Working knowledge and understanding of enterprise, client and web-based application software and the data produced by the software.
- Knowledge and understanding of business process concepts; includes process mapping, process design, and performance measurement.
- Working knowledge with one or more of the following core business processes: human resources, finance, engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, warehousing, marketing, sales and service.
- Ability to create compelling business cases with accurate cost and effort estimations.
- Excellent understanding of business complexity and project interdependencies.
- Intellectual curiosity and the ability to question thought partners across functional areas.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of basic system engineering, object-oriented design, information risk and security guidelines, and architecture standards.
- In depth understanding of the various software development lifecycles (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
- Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise in work products.
- Ability to partner with software engineers and quality analysts to identify course of resolutions.
- Understanding of modeling techniques, such as unified modeling language, etc.
- Ability to initiate, nurture and maintain relationships with individuals in business and IT.
Travel
Up to 5% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.
Work Location
