Job Summary
The Assembler assembles machines, equipment, and their subassemblies following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications. May also finalize equipment as they roll off the assembly lines according to blueprints and assembly manuals by performing the following duties.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Exhibit the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors.
2. Plans assembly procedures, following specifications and assembly manuals. May also assemble subassemblies for attachment to the final product.
3. Removes all quantities of metal to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts. May also inspect paint or finish to ensure quality.
4. Aligns components, bolts and screws them together according to torque specifications.
5. Installs moving parts, such as shafts, levers or bearings, and works them to test free movement.
6. May apply decals, company logos, safety warning notices and other items to the finished product. Also may attach doors, panels and other machine guarding, and details machine before shipping.
7. Tests or assists in testing operation of completed product.
8. Ability to perform job functions to cycle time and tact times.
9. Supports 5S/workplace organization goals of the department and offers suggestions and makes improvements that assist in achieving the department’s performance board metrics.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One to three months production experience and/or training.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Read blueprints.
- Write routine reports and intra-department communications.
- Calculate figures and apply concepts of fractions, percentages and ratios.
- Apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and statistical quality control.
- Effectively present information verbally and written and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, customer, and dealers.
- Perform basic Microsoft Office skills and other software.
- Perform problem solving techniques and root cause analysis.
- Perform multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to assess, evaluate, and carry out appropriate action for a given situation.
